High-society people often talk about art. They spend a lot of money to have it in their homes and they attend shows and visit galleries in the hope of finding the next big artist. Then they can buy something well before it becomes expensive – which will happen as the popularity and reputation of the artist rises. For people who aren’t living the high-dollar lifestyle, though, art can still be very important. Whether they create it, appreciate it, or both, there is room in their lives for artistic endeavors. If you’re one of those people, understand that artists are commonly misunderstood by the rest of society.
Some of them go out of their way to be tragic and unusual figures, but most of them are just living their lives. Even then, they are looked down upon and sometimes shunned unless they’re famous. Perhaps society doesn’t see artists as having ‘real jobs’ unless they’re making a lot of money and everyone knows their names. There are countless artists out there who are able to make a living with their craft. Most people haven’t heard of them and they aren’t getting rich, but they pay their bills and live their lives – and they get paid to do what they love.
That’s more than a lot of people get to do in life, but society still judges them differently. This appears to be the case whether they create with paint on a canvas, words on a page, or in some other medium. If you’re a working artist, you probably already know this. If you want to work as an artist, it’s an important lesson to learn. Ideally, it’s something that should be learned before starting out in that field of work. That can help avoid depression and aggravation about the way a lot of hard-working artists in society are actually treated.
