Plaza de La Tiendita is a cultural arts and gift store at Plaza de la Raza that has been in operation since 1991. It is located in Plaza’s Art Building and consists of 407 square feet of sales and display area. East Los Angeles artisans are supported with this regular outlet for their merchandise–artists such as Patssi Valdéz, Frank Romero, Richard Beltrán, Salomon Huerta, Simón Silva, Victor Vega, Leo Limón, Peter Tovar, Sylvia Velásquez Lawrence, Rosalie Ortega, Margaret Beltrán, Virgie Iñiquez, Ophelia Sanchez, Rose Portillo, Olga Ponce Furginson, Jesús Pérez, Jorge Villa Aguilar and Lisseth Conejo.

Items sold at La Tiendita range in price from .68 to $3,000.00 and include jewelry, clothing and original artworks as well as tapes and CDs by musicians Plaza has hosted. A small gallery in the rear of the store features works of art, also by local artists, that are sold on a consignment basis. La Tiendita is a way for Plaza’s 50,000 annual visitors to take home a tangible htmlect of the art and culture of Los Angeles that reflects the ethnic flavor of the Latino community.
